Marcus Rietema har fått kreft og søker bidrag for å betalte behandlingsutgifter. Marcus er den som startet det hele og alle kan takke han for at downhill har blitt så stort som det er nå. Håper mange kan bidra.

GET A GREAT DEAL AND HELP A FRIEND
Do you know the skateboard and luge-racer, Marcus Rietema? He’s a “GMR Original” — one of the skaters that first rode the famous Glendora Mountain Road and virtually created street-luging. He’s an X-Games athlete that left gravity racing for a decade to operate the X-Games races and create the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA). He’s a freestyle skater who rips at skate jams and a slalom racer who borrowed an Axe “to try it” and wound up racing at the Worlds for Sk8Kings. As the power behind IGSA and a fixture at races all over North America, Asia, South Africa and Europe, Marcus and his band of merry skaters just plain made racing happen for many, many skateboard and gravity racers for years, and he only recently “retired” from IGSA to focus on a new career, new family and “bouncin’ baby boy”. So, if you know him or have ever either been to or read about an IGSA race, Marcus Reitema has had an effect on your skateboarding.
Marcus was fast before many of us were even born…
We’re among those who know and appreciate the dude. As it was for many others, the news that Marcus Reitema was diagnosed with lymphoma came like a kick in the gut. There’s more information about his situation below, including a letter from Marcus about finding out he has cancer, but it boils down to one thing: he doesn’t have adequate insurance funds to cover the horrendous costs for chemotherapy and more. Over the course of the coming months, you will see and hear from personalities and companies in the skateboarding industry that want to help Marcus make it through this and would like to give “you the skater” an opportunity to help, too. Chris Chaput, owner of the Abec 11 family of skate products, is stepping up now and has an offer for you:donate $50 or more to Marcus Reitema’s medical expenses fund, and Abec 11 will send you gear.
